CHARLOTTE, North Carolina: Juan Pablo Montoya and Jacques Villeneuve once had to be separated during a confrontation in Canada. But that was six years ago and their relationship has steadily improved since the contentious early days.
Now Montoya is eagerly awaiting Villeneuve's arrival into NASCAR.

NOTTINGHAM, England: A player's collapse in the locker room at halftime caused an English League Cup match between local rivals Nottingham Forest and Leicester to be abandoned on Tuesday.
Forest was winning 1-0 at home when Clive Clarke, who joined the Foxes on loan from Sunderland two weeks ago, fell seriously ill at the interval.
Rival managers Colin Calderwood and Martin Allen addressed the crowd to tell the fans what had happened and the game was called off as Clarke was taken to a nearby hospital.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Clive and his family at this current time,” Leicester chief executive Tim Davies said.

MILAN, Italy: Inter Milan signed Portuguese midfielder Vitor Hugo Gomes Passos from Guimaraes on Tuesday.
Gomes Passos, nicknamed “Pele,” signed a five-year contract with Inter.
A member of Portugal's under-21 team, Gomes Passos joined Guimaraes at the start of last season after a year with Benfica's reserve team.

LONDON: Five-time European champion Liverpool beat Toulouse 4-0 to complete its qualification for the group stage of the Champions League on Tuesday.
Netherlands striker Dirk Kuyt scored twice in the last three minutes for Liverpool, which lost last season's final 2-1 to AC Milan.

GLASGOW, Scotland: Kenny Miller and Gary Naysmith are in the Scotland squad for next month's European Championship qualifiers against Lithuania and France, despite being sidelined with injuries.
Miller, a striker, has a hamstring injury and Naysmith, a defender, has twisted medial knee ligaments.
Scotland manager Alex McLeish said Tuesday, when naming his 25-man squad, that neither player was fully fit “but we would rather pick them now and then withdraw them if they are struggling.”
Scotland plays Lithuania at Hampden Park on Sept.

CARSON, Californua: David Beckham and Landon Donovan are likely to be in the Los Angeles Galaxy lineup against Mexican champion Pachuca in Wednesday's SuperLiga final.

GLENEAGLES, Scotland: Ernie Els withdrew from the Deutsche Bank Championship on Tuesday for family reasons.
The fourth-ranked South African is returning to his home near London where his children will be preparing for their return to school, Els said in a statement released by his management company, ISM.
Els plans to return next week for the third event of the FedEx Cup in Illinois and will remain in the United States for the PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta the following week.
“I have been on the road now for almost eight weeks and it is important that I return home where my children will be preparing for their return to school,” Els said.
